My job has a shuttle that takes us back and forth. After a 12hr shift, I just want to sit back, relax and listen to my music in peace. With the COVID restrictions in my area loosening a bit, the bus now allows two people to sit beside each other.
One day, a guy asks if he could sit beside me, and I say yes. Throughout the ride, he tries to make small talk, compliments things that I’m wearing, and I politely thank him or answer his questions. He seems friendly and nice, so I don’t feel weirded out. When the bus drops us off, he introduces himself, and calls me beautiful.
The next day after work, he finds me and sits beside me again. At this point I’m thinking that he’s definitely interested in me. We converse for a bit, and admittedly I’m too timid to shoot him down; I’m trying to be polite and not rude. He asks me for my social media and I give it to him. Now, on a day off of work, I decide to upload a picture of me and my boyfriend. Not long later, I get a message from him saying I should’ve mentioned that I was taken instead of allowing him to embarrass himself. I apologize for not bringing it up sooner and he blocks me. I should mention I’ve only spoken to him twice.
I’m so confused. I didn’t want to be that person who says “I have a bf” at the first go, but at the same time I know I made a mistake somewhere. My boyfriend says I’m not obligated to divulge any information to strangers. Reddit, did I do something wrong?
TL;DR: guy sits beside me on the bus, tries to get to know me. When he finds out I have a boyfriend he gets mad.
