My husband a couple weeks ago came out to me as gay, and I’m completely heartbroken.
We have been together for 8 years, and have had our ups and downs like any other couple. Recently, he has been working on himself, since he had a rough childhood and stated that his sexuality was the “last” thing he wanted to work through. Initially, he came out as Bisexual, but he lived with that thought for a couple weeks and it didn’t feel right to him.
We just signed a new lease together, and we are stuck with each other for a year. However, here is the catch, we actually get along amazing. We love and respect each other, but now as just friends.
It’s been really hard for me to separate our marriage as opposed to a friendship, and I know someday he is going to want to date. I’m not sure how I’m going to feel at that point.
We technically are still legally married, and I just feel like I’m stuck in limbo. I love him so much, and it hurts to know I’ve been “friend zoned” at this point.
I guess what I’m asking of you all is, if you were in this situation, what would you do to heal? I’m just so heartbroken at this point.
TLDR: husband came out, how do I move on emotionally?
