So I work as a doorman part-time at a small fancy women’s clothes store. Clients are mostly women going to some fancy party and moms with their young daughters.
Sometimes they bring along the youngest daughters who are 6 to 9 years old or a little older, and they often seem intimidated by. Or at least intimidation is the only way I can describe it. Could be something else, I don’t know.
Most times these little girls are just waiting for their mom/sister sitting near the entrance, often making a lot of intense eye contact with me. It’s pretty awkward. Sometimes I look away for about a minute or so and give them a quick glance and they are often still looking at me.
Little boys tend to play around the store but girls seem to look at me quite a lot.
Typically, I’m just quiet standing by the door and move only when clients are looking for clothes near me.
Am I intimidating these girls without noticing? Is there I should do to avoid this?
tl;dr: Little girls seem to be intimidated by me at the store I work in. Am I doing something wrong? Should I change something?
