There is something happened with my (28f) boyfriend (28m) that still bothers me to this day. Last year, he was on a virtual call with his colleagues for a ‘Christmas Dinner.’ The company sent everyone a pasta dinner set and some wine. They all cooked together and everyone had their spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends/kids sitting with them. As the night went on, my boyfriend motioned me over to sit with him. The atmosphere with everyone was relaxed, I was pretty tipsy and at some point leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. He immediately slammed the laptop shut and was furious. I mean FURIOUS. Feeling like a complete idiot and scared, I ran to the bedroom and locked the door so he couldn’t come in. He was POUNDING in the door to be let in, screaming at me to open it. I pretended to sleep. Him pounding on the door went on for hours, and when he started threatening to call a locksmith I opened it. He rushed into the bedroom yelling and started punching the pillows on the bed repeatedly and extremely aggressively. I felt so scared. There was a lot of yelling, he kept saying how inappropriate that was and why the hell I couldn’t just be normal. I felt really hurt by such a reaction. The pounding on the door was so loud that the neighbors complained to the landlord. I didn’t have friends at the time nor had I thought to ask for feedback from others. It still bothers me to this day. Did I go too far and really embarrass him in front of his coworkers? Was I inappropriate? Please let me know what you think.
