I [27m] gave a UTI to my gf [24f] of 8 months and now she is going to be at the hospital for a week with IV antibiotics and I think it ruined my relationship with her family

For the last month and a half my gf has been struggling with a persistent uti, getting half a dozen lab tests done and taking increasingly more potent antibiotics. During this time we've never had sex and we've been very careful, but the uti still flared up.

I took her to the ER on the last flare up after the last round of antibiotics and the doctor said that the only option left is IV antibiotics that are used as a last resort, which imply staying at the hospital for a week.

This alone is absolutely devastating to us, but on top of it her father [60's] is absolutely mad at me. And I get it, I already feel pretty responsible too. I don't know how I will be able to face her father and the rest of her family after this.

Tldr: gf got an antibiotic resistant uti obviously related to is having sex. Now is having IV drops at the hospital for another week. Her family hates me now and can't really fault them too.

What can I do? I'm feeling a little overwhelmed
