I’m an idiot. I was trying to do the right thing and one of our sheep died in the process.
He got me this particular sheep for my birthday last year and did all the fence building and everything. He waters them before work while I’m sleeping (we’re on opposite schedules).
I made a dumb mistake today while trying to do the right thing and one of our sheep was chased into the woods by a stray and she’s gone. It’s 600 acres. We looked and she’s just gone.
I love her. When we had a goat pass last year I had Covid and I sat in the 30° weather all night rocking him until he went. I’m not good at labor, I’m smaller, so he does that stuff. I appreciate it so much.
I’m more of the affectionate parent I guess. Not as valuable but I pet them and give them treats and hang out with them. I guess that doesn’t mean much, but I do really love them.
After searching to no luck he yelled at me which he never does. He was extremely upset and I told him that I’m sorry, it was a mistake, I’m upset too.
He told me I’m not allowed to be as upset because they aren’t equally mine. He does more so he gets to be sadder.
That stung. It really did. And now he’s giving me the silent treatment and I don’t know what to do. I’m sure it will continue the rest of the weekend. I am grieving alone.
What am I supposed to do?
TL;DR—mistake opened up a can of worms
