What does a “casual” relationship look like?

I (29F) started casually dating this guy (32) back in May for approx 5 months. Just broke it off today. Things were going great but turns out we had different ideas of what “casual” meant.

I wanted more than to see him 1x every 2-3 weeks with minimal conversation or interaction in-between. I wanted phone calls, texts, lunch dates etc. He claimed to want the same but never made it happen.

Turns out, maybe all along I just wanted a serious relationship, nothing causal.

What’s your definition of a “casual” relationship? What’s crossing the line?

TD;LR! I dated a guy casually thinking that was all I wanted, but it turns out, I may have fooled myself and got confused on what “casual” means.
