I(28) have been talking to a man(36), and recently he told me that he's been employed since 2019 only. Till then he hasn’t held any job, despite working on his master's degree (majoring in Japanese studies, yet not knowing anything about Japan, actually - so confessed about not being a good student).
He has lived with his single mother until 33 (he’s the only child), who has financially supported him. At 33 he has moved to live with his ex-girlfriend without paying rent for months until moving out (he says she was fine about him financially not contributing).
He has worked in two companies since (6 months and 1.5 years respectively) as his mother refused to support him. This has affected their relationship.
Do I have good reasons to worry? I’m afraid if we marry, he might quit his job anytime and expect me to financially support him. Is be a freeloader? Even if right now he has a job, doesn’t his past reflect his character? Has he changed?
TL;DR - He's 36 and has been employed for the last two years only. Is that a red flag?
