You can see from my previous posts that in regards to my romantic relationships, I’ve been making some pretty terrible choices. I’ve now made a commitment to only date fully available people who meet all my standards. This sounds like a no-brainer when I write it down… but I’ve been pretty lax in the past. Examples include; dating people who don’t want children when I do, dating verbally abusive people, dating addicts, dating people who are separated but not yet divorced. I could go on, but you get the jist. It’s been pretty dire and I am so completely done choosing these people.
I’m asking this question to others who have raised their standards in the past: what happened when you did this? How long did it take for you to find someone who finally met them? I’m guessing I’m going to be alone for a long time now because Im choosing to no longer be so accepting.
Tldr; when you raised your standards in relationships, did you find yourself single for much longer periods of time?
