I’m a content creator for a popular anime. My content is all SFW, so that leads to people of all ages following my art page on Instagram. My general policy with minors is to interact with them as little as possible. I want them to enjoy the fanart of course, just as I did when I was a teenager, and I will heart their comments or thank them for likes/shares, but that’s all. There is one, though, who seems hellbent on getting my attention. I guess she’s succeeded, but I’m not sure what to do.
Pretty much every single thing on her page is an homage to me or my art in some way. It’s to the point where if she was an adult, I would find it creepy/threatening. Everything she draws is pretty much a copy or a mimic of my art, like the same poses or using the same dialogue but with different characters. In the descriptions she will say it was inspired by me and also posts about how much I inspire her in literally every post. It’s an every day thing.
My strategy so far has been to ignore her for the most part, but that seems to make her more persistent than anything. I want to find a way to tell her to “dial it back” without coming off as a jerk. I know how quickly criticism from someone you admire, no matter how well meaning, can totally kill your passion for something. I don’t want to kill her art dreams, because I never had anyone close to me support mine growing up. At the same time, I don’t want this public obsession to continue because it’s cringe-y and uncomfortable for her(though she doesn’t seem to realize it) and me.
Does anyone have any idea of what I should say or do to make it stop in the kindest way possible?
TL;DR kid is idolizing me on social media, how do I nicely tell her to please stop copying my art and being obsessive about me in her posts?
