Guy keeps spending $$$ on dates...he isnt rich (23 F, 28 M)

Recently started going back into the dating field after a bad break up a year ago. Met a guy on bumble who seems cool and we have been on 3 dates and he keeps spending a bunch of money...1st, 2nd and 3rd date were...200, 450 and 500 dollars respectively. Expensive dinner, a play and dinner, a play and dinner. The thing is we aren't both wealthy, we both make about 50k. I'm 23 he is 28. I also am not interested in him anymore due to some personality issues but he has spent over $1000 even though I told him to stop the spending and offered to pay for dates. I feel guilty by even thinking of ending things with him. Please help?? We have known each other for 2-3 weeks
