Can a guy be a different person with his friends than with his girlfriend?

I've been dating a guy for 2 months and he's been absolutely amazing. He seems very invested already and always trying to please me.

I checked out his friends on social media and their jokes to one another, including my guys comments on their pictures etc., are extremely vulgar and nothing like the guy he when he's been around me over the past 2 months. I can't even imagine him saying those things.

When we're together he often even apologizes to me before making any comment that I might find offensive. He even avoids outright talking about sex with me except in a shy flirty way, but in his posts with friends his jokes are largely sex related and sometimes quite graphic...

TL;DR: basically the title.
