He is asking for space of 2/3 years

Long distance break up- he needs space to date 😂

My ex (27 M)and I lived together and then I moved away. He was meant to join me and move to France. In the meanwhile he has decided he didn’t want to move there anymore and that he needs space to date but that he’d ideally like to reconnect in 2/3 years.

His main reasons were that he just wants to ‘be stupid’ and have fun but not necessarily be with others.

I just don’t get it, first the distance was an issue then he needed space. Very strange that now that he has friends for the first time in his life that this is what he decides for.
