Girlfriend [22F] and I [22M] have been together for about 9 months. Everything has been pretty great except for tonight when she texted me and bragged about how she just drove home drunk. How do I go about telling her that I am not okay with that at all?
Pretty straightforward, the title has all the important info.
I don't think I ever specified that drinking and driving is a dealbreaker for me, but I do absolutely have zero tolerance for it. I have multiple family members who would still be with me today if it wasn't for drunk driving.
It puts yourself and others at extreme and unnecessary risk.
I'm a little bit in shock because it seems to be out of character for her.
She went out to a bar with friends, got drunk, drove home, texted me in barely intelligible sentences about how well she was driving drunk.
To me, this feels extremely serious. I decided to just tell her good night - she's safe at home, and I don't want to have this conversation while she's still drunk.
Am I right in feeling like this is pretty damn serious? And if so, how should the conversation go? I'm at a total loss :(
Tl;dr: How do I go about explaining that I am totally not okay with this behavior, and if it was a one-time mistake, how willing should I be to accept that? Am I being reasonable by getting upset by this, or is this an overreaction?
