Throwaway but I need some help here. My gf and I have been dating 5 years or so now and I've just been made aware of a problem.
In the first few years of our relationship we didn't really have friend group and spent much of our time alone. During this time I noticed she occasionally didnt smell very fresh? but I kind of put it aside since we were just relaxing at home and It wasnt very often.
Fast forward to last week and I was out with a handful of my guy friends at a boardgame session and one of them brought up the issue of my girlfriends smell. Before I could ask the others if they noticed anything they all joined in confirming what the original friend thought. I want to say this was done very respectfully and not in an insulting way. They tackled the issue very carefully and seemed worried what my reaction would be.
I pried a bit to get more information and it seems like they had noticed the smell since we all started hanging out but the last time it was so pungent that they decided to bring it up to me next time I was alone with them.
I know they arent making it up as I have smelled it in the past and have occasionally smelled it recently but I think I am more use to the smell?
My girlfriend is a great person and I really have no idea how to bring this up without hurting her. My/our friends are good people and I know they wouldn't bring it up if it was a nonissue.
Any advice is appreciated.
TL;DR My gf smells bad often and it is affecting our friend group negatively and I would like to help her without hurting her feelings.
