My (29F) Fiance (30M) (of 1 year) is really angry with me for throwing away his chopsticks

A few things about these chopsticks:

-They are only “his” because I am unable to use them. They are like any other of our kitchen utensils.

-They cost approximately $0.75 a piece

- They hold zero sentimental value. We purchased them from a local store a few months ago.

So for whatever reason whenever my fiancé is finished using a pair of chopsticks he just piles them at the back of the sink. I do 90% of the dishes at this point in our relationship (which is a HUGE point of contention for me as I also do most of the cooking AND I work significantly more hours per week). Recently I was doing the dishes and got so frustrated about these darn chopsticks that had been piling up for TWO MONTHS (since the last time I washed them) that I just tossed them all in the trash.

Today my fiancé called me while I was at work to ask me if I had seen the chopsticks. I honestly had completely forgotten about them, but I fessed up. He was REALLY upset. Like “please don’t talk to me at all until we get home from work tonight so we can discuss it” type of upset. We did exchange a few texts and I told him that I didn’t understand why he was so upset. He said, and I quote “It’s a pretty shitty thing you did and I’m just trying to comprehend why you thought it was okay to throw that stuff away, even if you were upset about it”.

As of now nothing has been resolved. I’m still at work and have been stewing about this all day, and frankly the more I think about it the angrier I get. If he really cared about them so much, why would he let them pile up? That’s disgusting. Right now I’m considering either crashing on the couch at my office at work for the night or staying the night at my parents (but I don’t really want to tell them what’s going on).

So, am I WAY out of line here? Is what I did really THAT horrible? Am I taking crazy pills? I’m sort of looking for someone to tell me that yes, I really messed up, and here’s all the reasons why.

TL;DR: Fiance never washes his (cheap, not sentimental) chopsticks. I finally got sick of them piling up and threw them away the last time I did dishes. Fiance is now incredibly mad at me and I can’t figure out how what I did was so heinous.
