My boyfriend and I have been together for seven years. I’ve never liked the way he smelled. I should clarify that it’s not that he smells, it’s just his personal scent that I can’t stand. I’ve never liked it but the longer time goes on, the more and more it’s starting to impact our relationship. I don’t like cuddling up next to him, or kissing him first thing in the morning. It’s impacting our sex life, I’m not as attracted to him as I want to be. I’ve been ignoring it for a long time. How can you tell someone that you are less attracted to them because of something they can’t change? He’s an amazing, sweet, wonderful man but I absolutely hate the way he smells. What do I do?
Edit (now with more information): You know how people just have certain smells about them? It's not their shampoo or their cologne or that they forgot deodorant. It's just their smell, maybe 'musk' is a better word. I'm not particularly sensitive to smells, I think I actually have a pretty awful sense of smell but when we are cuddled up next to each other, it's always present.
TL;DR: I don't like the way my long term boyfriend naturally smells and it's negatively impacting our relationship.
