pretty much what the title says, for years saying mommy and daddy out loud let alone written has been feeling a bit odd for me. I know its an endearing term and a lot of adults still call their parents this. I have no problem with that I find it kind of wholesome actually, but I just dont feel that comfortable with it. Problem is its the opposite for my parents, i have a few mental illnesses nothing life threatening but theyre still there and i think thats what makes them baby me way more than my little sister (11) and it doesnt help that i was born 2 months early and am a late bloomer. Anyways all that being said on multiple occasions weather it be jokingly or seriously trying to slip it in there ive called them things like mom/dad mother/father madre/padre mumsie/papsie (those were the more jokey one) etc and every time with anything besides mommy/daddy this whole rant starts up and even "joking arguments" like "OH OKAY ITS MOM/DAD NOW HAHA WOW" and then we're right back to square one of mommy/daddy because they basically guilt tripped me back down
Tl;dr my parents wont let me call them anything but mommy/daddy because they feel its too cold despite me being uncomfortable with it and now im in college
