Redditors I am in shock. My boyfriend of one year (who has a troubled past) was sacked from his construction job on Friday for having an argument with a work colleague and then pulled a flick knife (blade out) on him.
I can’t stop thinking about it. My boyfriend was initially shaken up, remorseful and said he can’t believe he did it and his mum has told him he needs to see a counsellor to work through his anger issues. In the past my boyfriend used to get into trouble a lot for fighting but I thought he had put that behind him.
He has never been violent towards me. He has just called me and said he’s been thinking about my reaction after the knife incident (I was annoyed and told him he needed to sort himself out) He said he felt like he was being spoken to by his mum and that I made him feel like he had mental health issues (all I said was that he needed to deal with his anger issues and find a way to resolve them). I’m shocked he’s taking this all out on me. He keeps saying the other guy provoked him and he felt threatened which is why he pulled out the knife. He then asked if he could dispose of the knife at my house as he is worried the police might get involved!
I really don’t know if I should continue seeing him. I mean, what if we have an argument and he grabs a knife at home or something? Not sure what to do here.
Edit: sorry, I said penknife in the title but it was actually a flick knife
