I (25f) fell in love with my best friend (25m) and now he’s gone. How do I be a good friend despite the heartbreak?

We’ve been best friends for almost seven years, and he was (until mid-last year) in a 10 year relationship. There was never anything romantic between us, I liked his girlfriend, etc, etc. however, she broke up with him, and I became a big support for him during his struggles. He had been overseas for a long time, and came back because of COVID. After planning to be my “COVID boyfriend” and live with me for a bit as friends, we eventually became romantically involved (much to both of our surprise), and it was the best two months of my life. We’re so compatible in every way. But unfortunately, he isn’t emotionally available, and though he loves me, it isn’t enough for him. I, on the other hand, have fallen for him. Completely.

Last night, he saw how much it was hurting me, and called it. Decided it was best to end it now.

I’m so broken over it, but I still want to be the support he needs, and help him get through what he needs to get through.

How do I be the friend he needs, without falling apart myself? And how do I get through this?

TLDR: Became romantically involved with my best friend, who is still finding himself after the end of a 10yr relationship. I need to know how to be a good friend and not feel any more feelings.
