tl;dr - I need to address the division of chores in a productive way so it's not a fight.
My husband (50M) and I (42F) purchased our first house a few months ago. We're definitely in transition and learning our new roles. However, one major point of contention is the split of chores between us. I feel I have the lionshare of them but my husband feels the same about his chore list. I'm sharing our list below and trying to be fair but my bias may come through. I'd like thoughts on the chore list, and how you've discussed this with your partner in a productive way. I don't want to start a fight.
Me: I work as a textbook writer 40 hours per week. I am also working towards my master's degree which is a 10-15 hour a week commitment.
Him: He works about 5 hours a day teaching students online. He gets 1 day off per week which is Mondays.
My chores: grocery shopping, meal planning, cooking, dishes, bathroom sinks/counters, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, trash gathering, dusting.
His chores: lawn care (we have 1/2 an acre), toilets, showers, taking the trash/recycle bins to the street and putting them away, the garage.
We share: dog duties, pool maintenance, & laundry.
