I (24F) feel like my boyfriend (23M) is just waiting for me to break up with him.

I am so sad and confused. We have been together for 7 months and sometimes he is the most caring and loving person in the world but other times he feels so cold and distant and avoids me a lot. 70% of the times I say I love you he won’t say it back and reply with something dismissive. He keeps picking the smallest fights but regrets it or calms down the next day. I’m so scared of him leaving and I’m so scared of breaking up with him and being wrong but I feel so insecure about everything.

TLDR; boyfriend picks fights and is hot and cold with the relationship and towards me. I don’t know if it’s in my head or is he ready to move on and just waiting on me to take the first step.
