My husband and I bought a house for us around 5 years ago. His friend needed a place to stay so we agreed he could rent one of our spare bedrooms but it couldn’t be permanent as we need our space, and he needed to continue looking for an apartment. My husband has been in a different state for work for the last 6 months. Everything was fine until his friend started dating this girl, and she started sleeping over a lot after my husband left town. It was fine when it was 1-3 nights a week, but after husband left she started staying every night. She hasn’t went home since. She goes home to shower and change clothes and comes right back. She parks her car here and everything. Even when roommate isn’t home, she will pick his key up from him so she can let herself into the house. The only time she is at her own house is when she is showering and grabbing clothes. I feel like I shouldn’t be upset because she doesn’t shower here or do her laundry here and they spend most of the time in his bedroom so I don’t even really see them. And since she isn’t showering or doing laundry here she’s not really using extra utilities. But at the same time, it’s OUR home. She doesn’t contribute anything to be here this often and she’s stayed here every night for the last 6 months. They never talked to us about it as it’s our home, and even if they did talk to us we would have said no because we do not want “roommates” like that. Husband isn’t ok with it either but we’re trying to figure out how to talk to them about it. Am I being irrational? Is this not really a big deal since she isn’t really using our utilities and I hardly even see her? I just feel taken advantage of. Any advice helps thank you
TL;DR husband and I own a house. His friend needed a place to stay, we rented him out a bedroom for very cheap and told him it could only be temporary. Husband left town for work 6 months ago, roommate moved his girlfriend in without asking us. Need to know how to confront him.
