So this is more of a rant but if there are any helpful suggestion they are much appreciated.
My wife was born in China and has never driven anything bigger than a scooter there; however, she did get her drivers license but has never owned a car. When we moved to the US in 2018, I was pretty much driving her to work everyday. I taught her the basics and let her practice with my car for a month before taking the driving test. She failed 6 times before passing. Anyways, I got her a used car to drive around.
This is some of the offenses she has done so far in just 2 years.
- Backed into parked vehicles and broke the rear signal light three separate times.
- Got rear ended because she didn't look before turning onto oncoming traffic.
- Broke the driver side mirror backing out of the garage.
- Drives at ludicrous speeds up to 90mph on the highway and doesn't even notice.
- Got pulled over by the cops 3 times.
- Follows traffic signs probably only 70% of the time.
It has gotten to the point where every time she goes out I am extremely worried for her safety and others. Now, whenever we go out I always drive just to avoid any more problems. She tells me she has trouble focusing when driving. I'm not sure if its because of an overload of things to pay attention to or her mind wanders while driving. I suggested to go find a professional or school to relearn and practice safe driving but she is reluctant. One good thing that has happened because of the pandemic is that she works from home now and drives much less.
TL;DR My wife is bad at driving and I don't know how to help her.
