So, of course this is between me and my husband.
We live in MA and my husband has gotten the idea to go to Orlando for February school vacation. My son knows about this idea and really wants to go. If you haven’t heard, we are in the midst of a pandemic.
I have been working from home since March.
My husband has to travel the country for his job. He follows all travel protocols, wears a mask everywhere he goes, etc. He is completely desensitized to traveling because he does it so much and hasn’t gotten sick at all. He doesn’t see it as a big deal because he does it every single week.
Now, my husband isn’t some covid denier or anything. He fully understands the severity of what’s going on. I think he’s just at the point of wanting some normalcy for us and a family trip after the past year would be a fun thing to do. Go somewhere warm and sit on the beach.
I don’t know what to say to him. I show him the number of covid cases, he says we will be fine if we wear masks and socially distance. He says hotels are open and airlines are offering tickets so we are free to go.
I can’t fathom taking a vacation to Florida next month. I know I’m not the crazy one!!! He is just convinced we will be fine if we fly down there and keep to ourselves. And maybe we would be! But I just find the whole idea completely irresponsible and literally going against everything we have been advised to do.
How do we talk about this when we are both so firmly decided we are right? Is there a compromise? (I already said wait til we get vaccinated or wait til it’s warm here to take a week off and go to the beach here but he wants to do something during our son’s school break.)
