We've been together for about five years and living together for three. On the whole, we have a stable and happy relationship.
Yesterday, he sent me a screenshot of a conversation from a group chat with his friends where one of them said that I look like a certain male actor who I guess is not classically attractive. Everyone in the chat sent laughing emojis and my boyfriend said something like OMG YES TOTALLY LOL. He forwarded the whole thing to me like it was something cute I would laugh at too.
It really hurt my feelings. It's not that I think this actor (Julian Richings, if that matters) is horribly unattractive or anything; I don't actually think I look anything like him (again, I'm a 27-year-old woman). It's more that it seemed like my boyfriend and his friends were laughing at a mean joke about me behind my back. It also doesn't make me feel particularly attractive if that's really how he sees me. Don't care so much what his friends think, I guess.
My boyfriend is generally really nice to me, and this is the first time anything like this has come up. I'm just confused about what he could have been thinking. Why would he say this? Why would he share it with me? Am I just being oversensitive?
tl;dr my long-term boyfriend laughed at a mean joke about me by text and then sent me screenshots of the conversation. What do I do with this?
