Texted him [33M] after first date, should I [28F] assume he isn’t interested?

I had what I thought was a nice first date the other night and at the end told him I had fun. We’re both around 30. I didn’t hear from him the next day, so the following day I texted him a little joke from our conversation. He basically responded with a oh haha that’s funny and that was it. Safe to say he isn’t interested and I should move on, and not ask him to go out again? I realize maybe I could have been more direct and texted him hey let’s do it again! But generally have found if I guy actually wants to see you again, he will ask, but also worry sometimes I may not show I’m interested enough on a first date when just meeting someone?

TLDR: texted him after date but he hasn’t asked me out, should I assume he isn’t interested?
