My (25F) boyfriend of 8 months was talking about something in the future - he was saying for my birthday next year he’d bring my favorite wine - and followed it with “if we’re still together”
That’s the first time I’ve ever heard him say “if” or some kind of conditional like that. Granted it might be the furthest date out into the future we’ve talked about. But we’ve already talked about living together once we’re in the same state (long distance right now) so it’s just weird to hear that.
Is this conditional a red flag that he’s considering breaking up/doesn’t see a future?
Is he planting seeds?
Or am I reading too much into it?
I can handle his honesty so if he doesn’t see it going anywhere I’d rather know earlier than later - not trying to waste time. And I’m not trying to move in with someone who doesn’t see it going very far.
tl;dr boyfriend used conditional “if we are still together” about future plans and I’m not sure how to feel about it
