My finacé (28 M) doesn't want to attend my (24 F) grandmother's funeral with me and I'm really upset about that.

I've been with my current partner for years now and engaged for just under one year. This past weekend my grandmother passed away. My grandmother raised me as a little girl, until an accident happened when I was 13 and she was no longer well enough to do so. I would not be who I am if not for her. She gave me the happiest years of my entire life.

I spoke with my finacé today about attending the funeral and following reception and he flat out told me he doesn't want to "spend time with a lot of strangers who just lost someone." And my feelings went from already sad to downright crushed. He is, currently, one of the most important people in my life and I feel that he should want to be there, if not to show his condolences to his future family; but, to support me because I REALLY need him there. For the past few days I have been a wall for my mother, aunt, uncle, etc. to lean on for support and I'm feeling very tired myself and wanting to lean on someone else (read: him) for some support. The fact that he said that and brushed it off, without even listening to why I wanted him there really, really destroyed me.

I can't talk to my family about this right now since I don't want to bother them with another issue so that's why I'm posting here. Thanks for reading and making me feel a little bit less alone in this really shitty time...

TLDR; finacé doesn't wish to attend funeral of someone very important to me and I feel like he's being selfish when I really need the support.
