My family wants me to come back home as soon as possible, but I don't want to. Should I do what I want to do or should I do what people expect of me?

Hey Reddit, I am an international student [22M] planning my return home for summer holidays. My idea is not to buy direct flight but make a small trip with short stops for the same money because I see it as a chance to travel a bit. It will take just one day more. However, my girlfriend [23F] and family doesn't support the idea, saying I should buy a direct flight and come back to them as soon as possible. I understand that they miss me, and I miss them too, but part of me still wants to have an adventure. Moreover, I'm coming for 2,5 months, so we've got plenty of time together ahead.

My girlfreind lately says a lot how she wants to travel with me, but then she says that she is going to Asia in the middle of July and that I should go with her, but we both know that most likely I won't be able to. This depresses me a bit more, since there's gonna be less time together, and I feel myself guilty for not flying back as soon as I can. But I also want to travel a bit and stop by the sea for an evening.

TL;DR: My family wants me home right after end of studying, I want to make return 1 day longer. Am I too much a moron for not going home as soon as I can?
