My boyfriend (25/M, 9 months) told me I (21/F) have low self esteem and he wishes I could see what he sees in me.

He told me that whenever he gets upset at anything, not just at me, I get emotional and apologize. He said that I usually take on the blame even if it had nothing to do with me. He said that sometimes he thinks I fear him and that I treat him like he’s superior to me.

It is true. I do have low self esteem and I have a fear of him leaving me some day so I guess I try to do anything I can to please him. This is my second LTR and he’s so loving and caring to me, I get scared that I’ll mess it up and he’ll leave me. But he told me that he loves me and he wants to help me in any way he can.

I’ve always feared this, that a guy would fall in love with me but when he got to know the real (insecure) me, he would leave.

I’m embarrassed and deeply ashamed that he’s come to realize this. I’m scared that he’s gonna get tired of me and call it off.

Now I’m wondering if maybe I’m just not ready for a serious relationship and maybe I just need time to work on my self esteem.

TL;DR My boyfriend confronted me on my self esteem issues and now I am wondering if I truly am ready to be in a serious relationship and if I should take time to work on my self esteem by myself.
