my boyfriend of two months (been seeing each other for three) thinks it's cute or sexy to speak in old/middle english. he'll say things like "in this hour, would my lady like to be in the middle of my kind thoughts?" and stuff like that. it's not really a reddit "m'lady" thing, he's extremely good-looking (like head-turning) and fit, and so far has been a perfect boyfriend. but it drives me absolutely mad when he does this, i cringe so hard that i feel like i'm going to shrivel up.
this morning, he woke me up my tapping my shoulder and when i opened my eyes he was right in my face smiling at me, and said "good morn, my queen. hast thou guessed whom is to make breakfast? why, it is i!" or something mental like that. i'm getting more impatient and ended up texting him "why are you talking like a barn owl haha" to try to hint that i don't like it, and he didn't respond for four hours. he usually replies immediately but ignored the text until i sent another one saying "i was joking babe, sorry", and he just replied with a love heart emoji.
i don't want to hurt his feelings, but i can't stand this anymore. we've had no issues so far so i don't want to screw this up. how do i tactfully get him to stop? or should i just accept it and move on?
tl;dr boyfriend talks like geoffrey chaucer and i don't know how to get him to stop
EDIT: ok ok ok i know this is not actually old/middle english; that's what he THINKS it is, and I didn't think folk would really care or notice if I used the incorrect linguistic term. sorry m'anglophiles
