Husband [41 M] of 10 years sings some pretty depressing songs to our children [7 M & F] during bed time. Should I say something?
My husband sometimes sings to our children at bedtime. I never really say anything about it because I see it as a time for only the 3 of them.
Sometimes they ask for songs but most days he sings them songs he knows, mostly from rock bands. And some of them have some content that I don't it's appropriate for them right now, like, songs about drugs use or sex which the kids don't really get because the lyrics are not shoot heroin right now or sex sex sex or anything like that, but they are a bit more explicit sometimes. Like, one literally starts with I've seen your severed head at a banquet for the dead. Uhhh, WTF?
They probably don't pay that much attention to the words (or maybe the do?) and get caught in the melody more like, but still.
He does sing friendlier songs or straight kid's songs, but sometimes I pass by and hear some references to things maybe children shouldn't be listening to?
Should I say something about it? I don't think they are gonna grow up to be drug addicts but maybe some more age appropriate songs are in order and less adult references?
tl;dr: Husband sometimes sings dark-ish songs to our children at bedtime. Should I ask him to stop and sing some more age appropriate stuff?
