TLDR broke up with girlfriend over me not wanting kids
So I've been dating my girlfriend for over three months now. Everything has been going great, she makes me laugh, and we connect on a lot of levels.
However, today we started talking about kids, randomly. I've always been a firm believer of not having kids, and encouraging my partner to abort in case of accidental pregnancy. Her on the other hand told me she wants kids and believes that abortion is immoral and is equivalent to murder.
I told her that having a kid is a huge no-no for me. I grew up in a single parent household without a father a whole life, and honestly the mere thought of having a kids...is nightmares fuel for me. She said that having kids is a huge part of her future plans, and I pointed out that this is a fundamental incompatibility.
So, I made what I thought was a logical choice, and broke up with her since I do not want her to waste her life being with a man who will never fulfill her dream of starting a family. But now I feel like crap, feels like I am throwing a future relationship full of potential away, and who knows I may change my mind when I am older so this may even be a non-issue.
So Reddit, did I make the right choice? I honestly do not know, and would just like some honest opinions and thoughts on the issue.
