I (F17) have my senior prom coming in two weeks. I was planning on going with my boyfriend (M18). However, last week, I found out that he has been cheating on me. I broke up with him, and I did not know what to do about prom. I do not have any other friends at my school to go with, but I did not want to skip prom since I had already bought a dress. So, I asked my best friend (M19), who graduated high school last year, to go with me.
The last day to submit forms for prom dates outside of school was Monday, so I had to submit the forms really quickly. I basically found a new prom date a couple days after breaking up with my boyfriend. I was really excited about going with my best friend. It would have been platonic, but my boyfriend had always been suspicious of my relationship with him. He would have definitely been upset if he found out I was going to prom with him.
Also, my best friend was very excited to go with me. He was happy I had asked, as he did not get a prom last year due to COVID. This all happened on Monday. Today, Wednesday, however, my boyfriend and I talked. He made me feel really bad about ending things with him, and he just seemed very apologetic. I basically ended up forgiving him, and we are back together now. I do not know what to do now about my prom date, however.
I feel like I need to cancel on someone soon before they start buying their suits/tuxedos. I just do not know how to do it or who to cancel on. I do not even know if I want to be with my boyfriend all that much. I just feel so over him at this point, but I hate seeing him so sad.
TL;DR! I was originally going to go to prom with my boyfriend, but after he cheated on me, I made plans to go with my best friend, who my boyfriend has always been jealous of. Now that my boyfriend and I are back together, I do not know how to cancel on either one of them.
