My dad and I have always had a pretty close relationship. However, over the years I’ve become more and more independent
He, however, still hovers over me all the time. He has this very annoying habit of freaking tf out if I don’t answer his calls right away
Today I went to the movies for 2.5 hours. I always turn off my phone out of consideration. After I got out of the movies, I saw that I had 15 missed calls and like 7 messages from him. When I called him back, he was freaking out cause he thought something happened to me. He was genuinely crying
He lives 2 hours away, so he sent my brother, who lives 25 mins away, to my apartment to check up on me. My dad and brother were pissed off at me
Are you serious? I don’t answer my phone for 2.5 hours and I’m the asshole? This isn’t the first time he’s done this btw. This has happened FOUR times before. I don’t answer his calls in a 2 hour period and he sends everyone to check up on me, and they all get mad at me. They NEVER think he’s overreacting, they NEVER tell him to chill out or wait a few more hours, and they NEVER see my side of it
Do you know how stressful this shit is? I’m literally afraid to be away from my phone now cause he’ll keep freaking out again and again
I’m 24 years old. What, I can’t be away from my phone for 2.5 hours without them thinking I died? I told them I was at the movies and they didn’t give a shit. They told me I was ungrateful and that I had some balls to treat him like this
Literally my entire family sided with him and it pisses me off. I genuinely wanna cut off contact from them cause of shit like this
Tldr; My dad has this habit of thinking I die if I don’t answer his calls right away and make me out to be the asshole for him overreacting
