My [24/F] gay friend [25/M] made a joke with his boyfriend [24/M] that I found hurtful. Am I being too sensitive?
Okay so we've been friends since college and we've hung around a lot. He's been dating his boyfriend for a few months now and we went out for drinks like we've done a few times.
We were a few cocktails deep and the topic of conversation turned to gay relationships. Specifically like, the pros and cons of a gay relationship to a hetero one. This was okay at first, until my friend made a remark I found slightly misogynistic? Basically he said one benefit of a gay relationship is not having to deal with the "emotional stuff" that comes with a hetero one. I sort of laughed awkwardly when he said it but I don't like the implication. He was basically saying that women are more emotional than men and I just found that sexist and degrading. I don't really know how to feel at the moment because I don't know if my anger is rational. Maybe I'm just being too defensive but it just seems like an "off" comment to make, you know?
TLDR: My friend made a joke I found misogynistic and I don't know if I'm justified in feeling hurt about it.
