Potential boyfriend(20/M) brags about women he rejected during the time he was seeing me(18/F). Red flag or a really poor attempt to impress me?

Hey everyone

A guy I've been seeing for about a month now often brags about a woman he rejected romantically or sexually, for example he refused to give his number or refused to have sex with a woman that tried to get in his pants.

I usually just laugh it off but it really bothers me because I have no idea what he is trying to achieve because I never even asked him about other women. Is he trying to prove his loyality or something? Is it a red flag for something worse? What are your thoughts? Any similar experiences?

I will probably ask him myself but I don't want to put him in this very uncomfortable position yet, so I'm asking for your opinion.

tl;dr Potential boyfriend brags about women he rejected. I don't know what he is trying to achieve with that.
