We've been together for about 4 years and living together for 2. He's great and very supportive, but incredibly forgetful and mindless sometimes. It doesn't help that he listens to an audiobook 24/7 so often i have to repeat myself because he's not paying attention.
I'm starting to feel the weight of the emotional burden of cohabitating and the requests to keep the home uncluttered. He's bad at cleaning up after himself and leaves his size 13 boots scattered all over our 700 sq ft floor, where I trip over them often. On the flip side, he makes breakfast every morning, does all the laundry without issue, and never complains about having to pack all our gear when we're out. So it balances out in the greater picture.
The one that really gets to me is paying rent though. Everyday i remind him to pay his share because it'll overdraft my account otherwise and every month he forgets until he check is cashed. I have overdraft protection so i don't get charged, but i have to do all this extra annoying stuff (like transferring funds). He doesn't intend on skipping the bill, but he never ever ever hands me a check for his share on the first of the month.
What is up? I don't know why this is so hard. It just happened today and, although i know he'll pay me immediately, i won't have cash flow for the weekend.
Yes, he probably has ADHD. And frankly I'm starting to feel like it just sounds like nagging and over time he will keep tuning it out, but it's not fair to me.
TL;DR: boyfriend forgets to pay rent until last minute every single month.
