My (27f) partner (27m) got really upset we don’t go out together more but I make a lot less money than him and now he’s left for work crying and I need an unbiased opinion.

My partner and I have been together almost two years. He makes double what I make in pay. I inevitably end up doing a bit more housework than him as I’m home more often and often cook him dinner if he’s working late.

Last night he got really upset and said he wants us to go out more. I said I was sorry but I don’t really have much money and it’s a bit hard. I asked if he’d take me out now and then and the impression I got was that he thought I meant he had to always pay and I was being a bit of an entitled bitch. I explained I just don’t have extra money like him but have been trying, we went out together the other day and I planned for us to go out next week. He hasn’t planned anything but he does try sometimes but I can’t do it because of money.

He got really upset and started crying and had to leave for work and he’s bawling and I feel so bad. I just don’t have much money to do lots of things right now and I do try and do cheaper things with him. He seemed a bit weirded out by me asking if he’d ever take me out on dates and now he’s left for work in tears and I’m so emotionally exhausted.

TLDR - partner in tears because he wants us to go out together more but I don’t have as much money as him and he feels I’m not as keen to go out
