I (26F) started a new job a couple of months ago. The VP/my boss (60F) is soooo nice to me! Everyone else thinks she’s mean but I ever since I started she has been nothing but nice. But sometimes I feel like she’s too much. We work for a manufacturing company so we work in the office while we have many guys working in the shop. When I first started she said “you’re cute so I know these guys will probably try to talk to you so if you feel uncomfortable please let me know cause I want to know” I just thought she did it out of protocol so I didn’t think much of it. 2nd week on the job she got me flowers .. again was sweet. And she gives me compliments here and there… saying I’m cute and I don’t need makeup (I told her I wanted cosmetic surgery). She always tells me that her and I are similar and she’s so lucky to have me here and that she really likes me as a person and hope I stay in this job for a long time.. which I thought was sweet cause no one ever told me that before .. Now.. every time one of the guys come in my office she instantly gets up to hear what we are talking about .: mind you they are very respectful and they just stop by for a simple hello.. but she is watching like a hawk.. the other day they bought me coffee and she kept asking me who got it for me I just said one of the guys and she said who and I just brushed her off.. another time they got me watermelon and she kept asking who got it for me.. today we had a company lunch and when we were done of the guys asked me if I needed help to clean up well she heard and she said no she’s fine I will help her and ran out to help me the guys think she’s so mean and laugh and they call her “my mom” cause she acts so overprotective of me. (She was married before and has been divorced for like 20 years and has 1 daughter. I’m not complaining how she is but sometimes I do feel embarrassed of how she treats me so like a little pet. Am I overthinking?
TL;DR - my boss seems a little overbearing.. she’s very overprotective and I feel embarrassed of how she treats me
