Why is my mom pressuring me to get married and have children?
My mom keep pressuring me (f28) to get married and have children and honestly I’m a bit confused about that!
Growing up she was always mean and resentful towards my dad and us children. She only cared about herself, her main goal was for us not to bother her. When she was stressed and upset, which happened often, Sayings like “I just want you to live the house already, I’m only obligated to you legally till you are 18” or “I hope you will have a child that will be bad as you are” were really common. And I just don’t get it. If you were so upset with your lives why do you want me to have the same experience?!
Also I feel like it’s really out of place for her to even talk to me about such manners, because as a teenager she preferred me to stay home all the time (so how can I even meet a romantic partner?), and when I was older and dating she said that I’m basically a slut because I was out until 11pm on week days dating guys. So my current situation, leaving with my boyfriends for 2 years now (m28) is defiantly my own achievement and she doesn’t get to claim this situation to herself!
Also lately I’m thinking about breaking up with my boyfriend but really afraid of the things she is going to say. She thinks she is a good mom but I really hate her. Thought it will pass when I will grow out of teenage hood but now it just a hate I get reminded of everytime I have a conversation with her.
TDLR: my mom always seemed bitter and upset about her own life, why does she pressure me to have the same experience?
