My (f51) coworker (f62) lost her son (m32) in March. She has been amazing but how can I and my other coworkers help her through this time?
I have a lovely co-worker who is also my supervisor. She lost her son in a horrific car accident in March. She has been amazing— a good worker, compassionate and caring, and also super tough and upfront about her son’s death. She has been an inspiration.
Recently, I’ve noticed that she is struggling. She had something planned this weekend and said that she canceled it “because her heart wasn’t in it”. The holidays are coming so of course she is missing her son so much, and her tough veneer is starting to crack.
What I am asking this sub is this: can you think of anything that me and another coworker who also cares about her can do to maybe distract her or at least let her know we care?
Tl;dr — how do I help a coworker through a difficult emotional time over the holidays?
