My (34) Husband (35) lies constantly about things he doesn't even have to lie about (married 2 years, together 5 years)

He's started doing this, or maybe I'm just spending more time around him that I notice? I worked full time before, and now I stay home with our daughter.

He lies to people about things that don't make any sense to lie about because they DIDN'T ASK.

He needed to lie about painting our 3 month old's nursery. No one asked about the nursery. The nursery hasn't been painted at all (she's room sharing until 6 months old so I haven't fixed up her room yet).

He needed to lie about how when I cook, he cleans up afterward. This is totally untrue, and no one even asked about it. It's become a joke between us when he might fill the sink with soapy water. He certainly doesn't clean up the kitchen after meals. If I don't do the dishes, they sit there until the next day.

He needed to lie about a dresser I picked up off the side of the road. I brought it home and stripped and refinished it. No one asked about the dresser, but in his version, HE is the one that stripped and refinished it. He didn't even mention me in his lie, so apparently I wasn't involved at all. He wasn't even home when I did any of it.

I made cookies for his coworkers. I bought all the ingredients, unloaded the car by myself, mixed everything, even bagged them myself. Basically he did nothing to help with the cookies which is fine because I enjoy baking anyway. He lied and said he'd made them. I found this one out from one of his coworkers. They mentioned the cookies 'M made for us' and I said 'what?' 'Yea M baked us cookies and brought them to work!'

It's made me wonder how often he lies to me and about what? Should I just assume he's lying about everything since there's never really a reason to lie about anything he's lied about? I can understand lying to keep yourself out of trouble, like if you get asked to do something and forget and say oh yea! I'm almost done! even though you didn't even start. What am I supposed to do about this?

TL;DR Husband lies about stuff that doesn't need to be lied about and I'm wondering how to talk about this
