My girlfriend (22 F) said she can't stay in a relationship for more than 5 years if I (22 M) or any guy she dates doesn't propose in that time
My girlfriend and I (both 22) were talking about our long term goals and aspirations. Eventually marriage came up in the conversation and I said I would prefer to get married in my 30s as I'm still building up my life now in my 20s. My girlfriend said she can't stay with someone who doesn't at least propose within 5 years of a relationship because it shows a lack of commitment. We left the conversation there but it has been on my mind for days now. Surely she should understand that a person is fully committed even if they do not propose within 5 years, right?
TL;DR. Should my girlfriend be more patient and realise a person doesn't have to propose within 5 years to show they are fully committed?
