Throw away account in case he sees this. I've been with my fiance for 3 years, we just recently got engaged. Overall I was really happy in the relationship before this happened. He's moved to a new city to be with me, he's generally very supportive, and this is the first time he's ever said/done anything hurtful.
So a few months ago my fiance mentioned that he often compares my body to porn stars. I asked him to clarify what he meant, and he told me he wished I had a flatter stomach, nicer breasts, and a nicer ass. I was really hurt by this and almost ended the relationship. I feel that comparing your partner to others is not healthy or conducive to a happy relationship. He begged me not to leave so I stayed. He insisted he still found me attractive, and thought that comparing your girlfriend to others was normal. He apologized and promised not to compare me to other women anymore and he even stopped watching porn all together (his idea, not mine).
Obviously I know that there are more attractive women than me out there, but hearing that my fiance wishes that I looked different really hurt. Ever since then I haven't quite felt the same about our relationship. My self esteem is so low now, and I feel really uncomfortable when we have sex. I just feel like he doesn't think I'm good enough. I've tried to talk to him about it, but the conversation never really goes anywhere. He just re-apologizes and says he doesn't know what else to do. I still think about it often, and I don't know how to move past it.
Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation and how did you handle it? Or does anyone have any advice on how to move past this?
TL;DR My finace compared my body to porn stars, and even though he's apologized, I don't know how to move past it.
