My (31F) husband (33M) shames me for using my Albuterol inhaler that I’ve had prescribed to me for over three years.

He claims I’m too dependent on it and when I cough I’m embarrassing. I’m prescribed my inhaler because I have allergic reactions to environmental factors, including our dog. He thinks unless I have a real medical condition I shouldn’t need it. I asked him if he felt the same way about diabetics and insulin or people with high blood pressure and their medications to keep the blood pressure down and he claims there’s a difference. My thought is that if I am prescribed an inhaler by a doctor, and I’m using my medication as prescribed I shouldn’t be shamed.

tl/dr: I’m prescribed an albuterol inhaler and my husband thinks I don’t have a real medical condition to require an inhaler and therefore shouldn’t use one.
