My boyfriend is currently deployed to Afghanistan and will be coming home in early March. Recently, he has been a little finicky about Valentine's Day, so i have never pushed the idea of gifts or anything like that. Today, while we were talking I told him that I wanted to celebrate to which he told me no, because he would not be able to receive any mail at that point in his deployment being that it is so close to coming home. I told him that I was not planning on shipping anything. His response was "Give up. I don't do Valentine's Day. I can give you references for a lot of other disappointed ladies"
I explained that I had only planned on buying lingerie and sending photos or trying to do something sexy & fun with him on the day. which he was like yeah, still do that.
I then told him that i didn't need the references of other women, and that I just wanted to do something nice for him. He responded with "ok". didnt speak to me for the rest of the night, and went to sleep. Am I being overly sensitive or was that mean? I'm not asking for a gift or anything, i just want his holidays overseas to be enjoyable. Do i move on? Do i bring it back up?
TL;DR: asked my deployed boyfriend to make valentine's day plans with me and he said "give up. i don't do valentines day. i can give you references for a lot of other disappointed ladies".
