I am not a fan of my friend's boyfriend, but I'm always polite/nice when he comes around. He keeps calling his girlfriend the hottest girl around to him (which is fair enough because she is beautiful), but the problem is he keeps comparing me unfavourably to her and commenting on MY looks as well, which I didn't ask for and is uncalled for. We were hanging out in a group, and someone else said I'm gorgeous. He then said really loudly that I'm not all that and my friend is the pretty one. Same is if someone compliments me on anything else, he always negates it if he's there and says my friend is better.
My friend lost her phone, and he didn't say anything and helped look for it. I lost my phone and asked my friend to call it, and he comments "so typical of [my name], she's always ditzy and losing things." He also calls me out for "lying" and treating my friend badly when it's the other way around.
Why can't he just keep his thoughts to himself? What is his problem with me? Why is it his business to voice if he thinks I'm ugly or dumb etc?
As a side note, he used to pursue me 2 years ago before they ever got romantically involved, and he wasn't calling me ugly then or putting me down. In fact, he was love-bombing me with over-the-top compliments. What should I do? Should I just ignore him altogether or talk to my friend about it?
TL;DR My Friend's boyfriend is rude to me for no reason and it makes me feel awkward. What should I do when he passes rude comments? Should I just ignore him?
