My husband has worked for the same company for almost 5 years. He helped get me a job and after lengthy background checks and of course a drug test, I started working 4 weeks ago. I work at a different location because we both work days and can't work together, though we have the same supervisors. We work in emergency rooms.
Monday morning supervisor R asked if I could pick up three overnight shifts at the main hospital, as they are short staffed. Granted I'd be working 60 hours after working my long week last week plus picking up a shift last week where I worked a total of 56 hours.
My husband is concerned I'm going to burn myself out. Especially when I normally work days and I'm having to switch to nights. My thing is, we need to build up our depleted savings from when I wasn't working.
When I agreed to work he got upset because he always asks me before he goes in early or takes a shift, because he doesn't want it effecting us time. I didn't think about asking him. I'm feeling guilty because he has to be quiet when gets home because I'm sleeping.
Is he right? Should I have asked? Am I going to burn myself out too quickly? I know big boss GS appreciates it, and I like being dependable, but I don't want to upset my husband.
TL;DR: My husband is upset I'm working so many hours without asking about covering shifts. He always asks me when they ask him to cover. Am I in the wrong?
